Broken Shivers

No one said it is easy...

Maybe you are in the middle of a big decision, a time when you have searched your soul for a way out of actually following God's plan for your life. It may be down to your will vs. His will. Perhaps you don't want to give up certain things you enjoy, someone you care too much for and shouldn't or some other 'right' or 'privilege' you enjoy. Think carefully before you thwart the will of the Living God. Letting Him have his way can be a very uncomfortable thing, but if He truly is Lord of your life, you can do nothing else. There are many kinds of sins, including the sin of wanting your 'own way.'

Psalm 143:10 "Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness."

  • Johnny, do you believe in 'degrees' of sins? Is cheating 'emotionally' on your partner as bad as cheating sexually? You know, say you have a crush on someone and you shouldn't, but you don't 'do' anything, just think about the person. If, as your post suggests, we 'hold on' to something or someone we shouldn't, does that interfere with God's plan for our life?

  • Rita, I believe in degrees of sin, but I am not sure God views one sin differently from another. I, for example, think that killing someone is much worse than just imagining it. As for emotional cheating vs. physical cheating, some would find emotional cheating worse although I probably wouldn't. Both are very hurtful and can kill trust.

I suppose any disobedience 'interferes' somehow with God's plan for us. If nothing else, it might delay things.

  • Great post Johnny! Our sermon series this summer has been on The Lord's Prayer. Today's topic was Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Very appropriate. I'll sende more in email, but I'm convinced that God always has a plan, and we don't always get it!
