Surely not in Des Moines...

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Ch 7:1

What have you done in your home town lately to spread the gospel?

  • Regretfully, Johnny, I haven't done enough. :( It's true that we don't seem to 'esteem' the work done in our local church as much as that done by missionaries. I guess it's just not 'glorified' enough.

  • It all starts at home. And home is often the hardest mission field. It is also a mission field with incredible need--in its own way.
    Thanks for the post.

  • John, I often feel that I am the biggest hypocrit and would be laughed at beyond measure if I was to speak about what "I" know to be true. Do you think it is enough that when you are caring for people that you pray that the love of God, Jesus, travels through you into them? And even if I am a big sinner do you think it works?

  • I think it is good that you pray for others, that you ask the love of God through Jesus go through them.

We are all hypocrits to some extent, mq. We all sin at one time or another; it is our nature. If you repent of your sin, he will forgive you and you are just as free as anyone to spread the gospel however you can, however you are comfortable. If you cannot 'speak it,' write it. A card to an elderly or lonely or homeless or discouraged person with just the words 'God's blessings on you' can mean so very much.

To your last question, if you have sinned and not repented, not made your relationship right again with God, there is a temporary break in your relationship and your prayers may not be answered. Just as when we fight with our parents, are not speaking, not much gets done, eh?

It is best to repent as soon as one knows they have sinned and do their best not to repeat said sin.

I hope this helps and does not hinder you. Bless your heart.
